Amelia Vance & Carter Hughes
Met November 2023
"Fifteen minutes of coffee became an entire afternoon, and I have not been good at leaving early ever since." — Amelia
Both of them had been told, separately, that they worked too much. Both had agreed, separately, and then failed to change anything. Their first meeting was planned around Amelia’s schedule — a narrow window at Ascension Coffee in the Design District. Fifteen minutes became an hour, then dinner at a small Italian place in Knox-Henderson.
Carter was a fifth-generation Texan; Amelia had grown up between Houston and Washington D.C. They discovered they shared an affection for quiet weekends at the Kimbell in Fort Worth and long drives out to the Hill Country when the bluebonnets opened.
They were married at a ranch outside of Fredericksburg in May. The guests included colleagues from both coasts and a great-aunt who flew in from Midland and declared, loudly and approvingly, that the barbecue was "adequate."
